Android 4.2 Calendar Bug Skips December

Users of devices running Android 4.2 are reporting the operating system’s people calendar app doesn’t include December 2012, much to the alarm of those who have trouble forgetting anniversaries or can’t remember just how many nephews they have to buy birthday presents for.

Featuring all 12 months in a calendar isn’t usually considered a feature, but Android Police reports that the app, which came from the Android Open Source Project, jumps straight from November 2012 to January 2013. No other versions of Android are believed to be affected.

Android 4.2 calendar bug steals Christmas

“Today I was inserting birthday of a friend in my contact list so that I can sync the birthdays in my calendar,” wrote one user. “I noticed that the December month is missing. When I pressed new event the calendar came but it was not having the option for the month December. I’m using Galaxy nexus running on 4.2 Jelly Bean which I installed yesterday on 14 November 2012. Please help me with this as I use the calendar a lot.”

Google has not officially confirmed the existence of the bug, but is reportedly aware of it, and will want to fix it quickly given that December, and the Christmas period, is almost upon us. Android manufacturers will also be hoping to shift plenty of smartphones and tablets during the festive season as well.

Android 4.2 debuted on the Google Nexus 10 tablet and LG Nexus 4 smartphone, both of which were released earlier this month. The LG Nexus 4 features a features 4.7-inch high definition touchscreen protected by Gorilla Glass, 1.5 GHz processor, Near Field Communication technology, an eight megapixel camera and 8GB of storage.
