VMworld: HP And AirWatch Agree EMM Partnership

HP and AirWatch, owned by VMware, have partnered to deliver the latter’s Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) functionality to customers of HP’s Managed Mobility Services.

The new partners say the deal will make it easier for HP customers to manage devices and applications connected to a corporate network and will allow firms to take advantage of  features like single-sign on.

AirWatch’s mobile device management (MDM) capabilities will be delivered to both HP’s cloud and on-premise services and also affords the ability to run apps from any source and to enable personally-owned devices to run corporate applications and store data securely.

“This partnership is about getting in front of the rising trend of employees bringing multiple devices to the workplace and enabling a safe, secure and productive environment for our clients to access and develop information sources,” explains Chris Moyer, mobility and workplace lead and CTO of HP Enterprise Services.

“We believe enterprise mobility is one of the most rapidly changing aspects for IT, and our collaboration with VMware will better enable customers to modernise their workforce with HP mobile solutions.”

The announcement was made at VMworld in Barcelona, where HP also revealed it is to contribute to VMware’s EVO RAIL range of hyper-converged infrastructure systems.

VMware bought AirWatch in January for a deal worth £930 million as part of a wider push into mobility services by the virtualisation specialist.
