Hacker Claims He Stole 50Gb Of Credit Card Details

An ex-Anonymous hacker known to the public as Reckz0r claims he has hacked 79 large banks in the last three months. As proof, he has released a few hundred sets of customer data on PasteBin yesterday.

However, there is some doubt as to whether the hack was carried out by Reckz0r, and if the alleged 50 Gb customer data cache even exists.

This morning, the hacker also shared over a thousand sets of account details for Brazzers Network, a collection of porn sites.

Short retirement

Reckz0r has previously tweeted he hacked “Visa & MasterCard”. As it turns out, the data came from different banks, with all of the customers using either Visa or MasterCard cards. The PasteBin release links to a document which includes information on accounts from all around the world, including US, Japan, Australia and UK.

The document contains a list of names, addresses, phone numbers, e-mails and card types. It excludes credit card numbers, security codes and expiry dates, making this information useless to anyone with criminal intent. The published data weighs less than 200 kilobytes; however Reckz0r claims he has 50 Gb of such data in his possession.

Previously, Reckz0r had described himself as a Greyhat. He started hacking in 2002, and soon drifted towards Anonymous. As a part of the informal hacktivist collective, Reckz0r attacked Sony, MI6 and various government websites, and participated in #OpBahrain. He later joined UGNazi, but the group soon dissolved due to interference by another hacker group, GearSec.

A week ago, after publicly criticising Anonymous, Reckz0r announced he was retiring. “I just got tired of all that sh*t, Anonymous supporters hating on other Anonymous supporters. Hackers hacking Hackers. Friends doxing their own friends. Leaders doxing their own comrades [no doubt referring to LulzSec]. People hating you for no reason. The chances of you to get betrayed are very high,” said another release on PasteBin.

And yet, the hacker couldn’t quit. Yesterday, he tweeted “When LulzSec was over, why did you lost your faith? Anonymous can still be raised, believe in it!”

There are some issues with Reckz0r’s story. Softpedia were able to find the same customer data sets on an Arab hacking forum, posted around a week ago. The information was provided by Group 404 Hack, which claimed to have leaked the information from an Israeli data centre.

This could either mean that Reckz0r has Arab ties, or he has claimed a hack made by someone else. The hacker hasn’t responded to comment requests at the time of writing.
