Apple To Release 128GB iPad On 5 February

Apple will release a 128GB iPad with Retina Display (iPad 4) on 5 February, double the previous highest capacity version of the tablet.

The Cupertino-based company is targeting the new version at power and business users, who will be able to get their hands on a Wi-Fi version for $799 (£507) or a Wi-Fi + Cellular edition for $929 (£589).

The iPad 4 is the most recent version of the market-leading tablet and was unveiled alongside the iPad Mini last October, only a few months after it launched the third-generation iPad. It offers twice the performance of its predecessor though, thanks to its A6X predecessor.

128GB iPad Announced

“With more than 120 million iPads sold, it’s clear that customers around the world love their iPads, and everyday they are finding more great reasons to work, learn and play on their iPads rather than their old PCs,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing.

“With twice the storage capacity and an unparalleled selection of over 300,000 native iPad apps, enterprises, educators and artists have even more reasons to use iPad for all their business and personal needs.”

Earlier today, Apple updated iOS to version iOS 6.1, adding LTE support for 36 additional iPhone carriers and 23 iPad operators. It also added the ability to purchase movie tickets in the US through Fandango and lets iTunes Match subscribers download individual songs to their iOS devices from iCloud.

It is available from today as a free update for the iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, third and fourth generation iPads, iPad 2, iPad Mini and iPad Touch.
