UK spends £1.3bn fixing broken gadgets
Research from TSB shows an estimated £3.1 billion has been spent on replacing or fixing broken gadgets in the past few years, but most people are not insured. Mobile phones are unsurprisingly the most commonly affected item, with water damage the biggest problem. Almost a fifth of mobile users have suffered from a broken screen.
Capita wins £140m Tesco Mobile customer service deal
Capita has won a five year contract to develop Tesco Mobile’s customer service and will start on 1 August. Tesco Mobile is a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) joint venture between the supermarket and O2. Around 550 permanent Tesco Mobile employees will transfer to Capita and a further 240 temporary staff will work on the account under Capita’s management.
Brexit: We’re all doomed on IT spending
Analyst firm Canalys is forecasting a 15 percent decline in IT spending as a result of Brexit due to uncertainties and movements to reduce risk. The weak pound, unless it rallies, will also result in “immediately higher” technology prices. The UK technology industry was overwhelmingly against leaving the EU.
