Dr. Peter Bonis, Chief Medical Officer for Wolters Kluwer Health, will speak on artificial intelligence (AI) at the HIMSS AI in Healthcare Forum. The panel, titled “How Do We Support our Workforce to Trust and Adopt AI?” will be held on Thursday, September 5 from 1:15-2:05 PM in Boston.
“Successful adoption of AI in the healthcare setting requires demonstration of value, safety, and effectiveness,” said Dr. Bonis. “Trust must be earned. For example, an April 2024 Wolters Kluwer survey found nine out of 10 physicians have concerns about the source of GenAI content used for clinical decision support and they want transparency. I look forward to discussing the progress and barriers on adoption of AI technologies in the clinical setting.”
Joining Dr. Bonis on the panel are Dr. Patrick Thomas, Director of Digital Innovation, Pediatric Surgery, The University of Nebraska Medical Center-College of Medicine; Dr. Sonya Makhni, Medical Director, Mayo Clinic Platform; and Dr. Antoine Keller, Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Ochsner Lafayette General Hospital.
The panel will address the importance of ensuring a healthcare organization’s workforce is prepared and willing to effectively leverage AI in their clinical workflows. During the panel, AI clinician-experts will dive into the skills needed to build readiness for successful workforce adoption and trust in AI.
Building on Wolters Kluwer’s solid AI foundation
Wolters Kluwer Health is already working with healthcare systems to explore integrating GenAI into UpToDate through its experimental AI Labs. The company is committed to setting a standard for the responsible application of generative AI to the complex realities of front-line healthcare. A recent Wolters Kluwer Health survey, “Generative AI in Healthcare: Growing Physician Enthusiasm,” found 4 out of 5 of physicians (81%) say GenAI can improve care team interactions with patients.
Wolters Kluwer AI products, services, and expert solutions are based on a foundation of trust, transparency, and responsibility—in line with the company’s values.
