Telescent, a leading manufacturer of automated fiber cross connects for network and data center operators, announces today the launch of its new G5 Robotic Patch Panel system. The new and enhanced G5 automated cross connect management system will be showcased at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) Conference 2024, the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals taking place from March 24-28, 2024 at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California.
Telescent’s current G4 system is already the largest automated cross connect platform on the market, the upgraded G5 system doubles the capacity by replacing simplex LC ports with duplex SN ports, maintaining the same number of ports in the system. The SN duplex system includes all of the same robust features of the G4 all-fiber simplex system, including extremely low insertion loss, a scalable pay-as-you-grow model, and high reliability. The G5 system was developed due to the demand for additional capacity driven by the continued growth of hyperscale data centers and the continued increase of demand for interconnection within these data centers.
“Telescent has been taking a pulse on the industry to ensure that our systems meet or exceed demands in cross connect interconnection, particularly with the insatiable growth of generative-AI and other hyperscale cloud-based solutions,” comments Bob Shine, VP of Marketing and Product Management at Telescent. “Technology is changing at a lightning pace and we’re thrilled to be able to meet the data center demands so quickly with the launch of our G5 system. This is testament to the versatility of the Telescent Robotic Patch Panel to keep up with the industry demands and multi-fiber per connector options.”
