HeyWire AI, an AI content generation company, announced today the findings of a University of Oxford and University of Minnesota Special Artificial Intelligence Report on public trust of AI for the future of news. The study was conducted by the University of Oxford and the University of Minnesota in collaboration with HeyWire AI, drawing from their AI-generated news. HeyWire AI has launched the beta version of WELLS, the industry’s first self-prompting, and fully autonomous AI news/content generation engine.

The study asked, “Can AI-generated journalism help build trust among skeptical audiences?” Full findings of the study are available here.

“The findings of the study validate the trends in the news industry and we’re pleased to see the research of the academic community support these industry trends and our related product development methodology,” said Von Raees, founder and CEO of HeyWire AI.

Methodology

The methodology for the University of Oxford and University of Minnesota study includes a preregistered survey experiment fielded in September 2023, utilizing a quasi-representative sample of U.S. public demographics. The study’s stimuli included news stories generated by HeyWire AI on timely news topics. These included stories on Barbie, Hunter Biden’s legal troubles, and the BRICS summit in South Africa.

The news follows the launch of WELLS’ autonomous AI content engine earlier this month. The study is consistent with a history of public, private, non-profit, and academic sector collaboration by HeyWire AI as it rolls out its AI content applications for an international news and content customer base.

“HeyWire AI’s methodology and unique approach to developing AI tools is cutting-edge and different from other projects I’ve seen in this space. The autonomous and self-prompting features are exciting, and the development, to date, is a validation of the company’s concept,” said Dr. Jingbo Shang, professor of artificial intelligence at the University of California, San Diego, and an advisor to HeyWire AI.
