Noom, the leading digital healthcare company helping people live longer, better lives, today announced three new hires to its leadership team: Jean Clifton has joined Noom as Chief Financial Officer, Rich Friedman as Chief Technology Officer, and Norman Petty as General Counsel. Others joining Noom in notable positions are Jim Bugden as Senior Vice President of Corporate Development and Partnerships and Katerina Kugel as Senior Director of Brand and Communications.
The company also announced the promotion of several Noom employees to elevated roles: Nikhil Jhunjhnuwala to Chief Growth Officer; Raj Krishnan to Chief Product Officer; Cody Fair to SVP Healthcare Sales & Services, and Manik Dewan to Head of People.
These appointments follow Noom’s July announcement that Geoff Cook had joined the company as Chief Executive Officer as the company focuses on driving growth in its medically-assisted weight loss, enterprise, and consumer-facing health and weight loss services. Noom’s Co-Founders Saeju Jeong and Artem Petakov retain their roles at Noom as Executive Chairman and President, respectively.
“We are delighted that Jean, Rich, Norman, Jim, and Katerina have joined our Noom team, and are thrilled with those who have recently earned promotions through their hard work and dedication,” said CEO of Noom Geoff Cook. “Each of them is passionate about our mission to empower everyone, everywhere to live a better, healthier life. They bring with them unique leadership experiences and distinctive perspectives that will help Noom successfully innovate and drive growth.”
In her role as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Jean Clifton brings a depth of experience in healthcare services and subscription-based media businesses. Jean joins Noom from her role as Executive Vice President and CFO of Pyramid Healthcare, a leading behavioral health company where she oversaw tremendous expansion of the business and drove substantial value creation. Jean also has significant experience in all facets of M&A and organic growth initiatives, as well as capital market transactions.
Rich Friedman has led teams delivering innovative enterprise applications and consumer platforms at immense scale, including for tens of millions of monthly users. He brings to the table deep experience in software engineering, product management, and people leadership, including integrating teams and technology acquired through M&A. As Chief Technology Officer at Noom, Rich undertakes the responsibility of overseeing the holistic growth of the technology organization. This encompasses driving development of new products, ensuring best-in-class quality, refining engineering processes, and streamlining overall operational efficiency.
Norman Petty is joining Noom following over 20 years in legal leadership at The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones’ other consumer brands as well as The Meet Group, where he was a valuable partner to teams leading digital product innovation and commercialization. He brings to Noom a broad range of experience in strategic dealmaking, cross-border transactions, consumer protection, intellectual property, privacy and risk management, with a special focus on digital subscription businesses. As General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Business Affairs, Norman will take on leadership of Noom’s legal and compliance function, as well as the corporate development and partnership teams, which will continue to guide the organization’s growth in multiple areas including its consumer and B2B offerings.
Noom has expanded significantly in the last year with the introduction of Noom Med, its unique obesity care program, and Noom for Work, its enterprise offering for employers and payers. In October of this year, Noom announced that Noom Med would be available through Noom for Work, marking a significant expansion in what the company is able to offer to employers and payers in a competitive marketplace.
