Digitate 2023 Automation Survey Research Findings
December 2023 saw the publication of a comprehensive research report, “AI and Automation: Laying the Foundation for the Autonomous Enterprise,” surveying 601 IT decision-makers in organizations with 1,000+ employees in the U.S. Findings include a 90% intention to deploy more automation, with 26% planning autonomous systems in the next five years. IT complexity is a major internal challenge (44%), driven by cloud migration (92% adopting multi-vendor cloud strategies). IT leaders aim to implement additional automation (67%) to address growing complexity. Automation efforts focus on IT (90%), finance (89%), and customer support (89%) in the next 12 months. Concerns about automation include workforce insecurity (26%), yet 60% report improved employee satisfaction and increased productivity.
This followed the release of another study, “Evaluating Automation and SAP Transformations,” in partnership with ASUG, America’s largest network of SAP customers, partners, and professionals, SAP users, and administrators from 150+ organizations in North America revealed 90% experienced SAP application downtime. Two-thirds spent up to 25% of their daily time resolving issues, with a direct impact on customers noted by 39%. Integration challenges (95% facing issues) and data inconsistency were major contributors to unplanned downtime.
