Kide Science powered by Accelerate Learning has been selected as a winner in the Educators Pick Best of STEM 2024 Awards, the only awards program judged by STEM educators. Kide Science won the award in the “Best of STEM Hands-on Curricular Materials: Pre-K to Grade 2” category, a new category created in 2024.
“The 2024 Best of STEM winners were selected by educators for their innovation, cross-disciplinary approach, and focus on providing students with opportunities to address real-world challenges,” said Daylene Long, CEO of Catapult X and founder of the Best of STEM Awards. “Judges noted that these forward-thinking companies deliver transformative tools that enrich classroom experiences and encourage students to engage thoughtfully with the world around them.”
Kide Science is based on years of academic research at the University of Helsinki. It combines storytelling, play-based activities, and hands-on experiences to engage prekindergarten through second grade learners. In addition to STEM topics, the Kide Science lessons promote the development of social-emotional, literacy, critical thinking, and problem solving skills.
A Best of STEM 2024 educator judge said, “Based on the Finnish belief of screen-free learning, Kide Science provides teachers with supplemental lessons that foster playful inquiry, authentic learning, and skills development. Students and teachers join in play together as they first investigate Supraland and meet robot Hoseli and his friends. Teachers are given complete control of where to go next based on their needs that might be based on school curriculum, topic, learning outcome, standard, etc.”
The Educators Pick Best of STEM Awards spotlight innovative products, technologies, and services that are changing the world of STEM education. The awards program is operated by Catapult X and The Teich Group in partnership with the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), MCH Strategic Data, and the National Association of Biology Teachers (NABT).
