Fivetran, the global leader in data movement, today announced its recognition as a Challenger in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Data Integration Tools. This marks Fivetran’s fifth consecutive appearance in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and its second year as a Challenger, which Fivetran views as a reflection of its ongoing innovation and dedication to simplifying data integration for businesses of all sizes.

Gartner Magic Quadrant reports are a culmination of rigorous fact-based research in specific markets, providing a wide-angle view of the relative positions of providers in markets where growth is high and provider differentiation is distinct. Providers are positioned into four quadrants: Leaders, Challengers, Visionaries and Niche Players.

“Fivetran views its recognition as a Challenger as a reflection of our commitment to innovation and delivering value to our customers,” said George Fraser, Fivetran CEO. “Over the past year, we’ve enhanced our capabilities with solutions like Hybrid Deployment, Managed Data Lake Service, and a growing connector portfolio, designed to address the complex data needs of modern enterprises. We are honored to support businesses like OpenAI, Morgan Stanley, Heineken, and Spotify in leveraging their data more effectively to drive better decisions and enable meaningful AI innovation.”

Key Fivetran advancements in 2024

Fivetran’s recognition in the 2024 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Integration Tools comes during a year of significant innovation and growth. This year, Fivetran surpassed $300 million in ARR, fueled by increasing demand for AI-driven solutions and data movement capabilities. Over the past year, Fivetran introduced several advancements aimed at addressing the evolving needs of enterprises:

  • Expanded connector portfolio: In March, the company expanded its offering to over 600 pre-built connectors, the largest of any data movement platform. This enables seamless integration from a wide range of sources, including SaaS applications, cloud or on-premises databases, ERPs, event streams and structured, semi-structured or unstructured data – unlocking advanced analytics and AI capabilities.

  • Support for data lakes and unstructured data: In June, Fivetran launched the Managed Data Lake Service, automating the secure landing of clean, organized data from over 600 sources into data lakes. Using open table formats like Apache Iceberg and Delta Lake, this service combines the simplicity of a data warehouse with the flexibility and scale of a data lake. Available on Amazon S3, Azure Data Lake Storage and Microsoft OneLake, it automatically converts raw data into query-ready formats — streamlining data governance, management and insight generation.

  • Hybrid Deployment on a unified platform: In September, Fivetran released Hybrid Deployment, allowing organizations to run data pipelines in any environment — cloud, on-premises or hybrid — while maintaining the ease of use and automation Fivetran is known for. This innovative solution empowers organizations to run sensitive or security-restricted data pipelines within their secure network or VPC, offering full control over their data without the complexities of additional software maintenance. This capability addresses the growing demand for data security and compliance, particularly in regulated industries like finance and healthcare.

  • Strengthened global strategic partnerships: Fivetran continued to deepen its relationships with leading technology partners, advancing its capabilities for customers worldwide:

    • Snowflake: Added support for Iceberg table formats and enterprise-ready native applications, helping organizations to modernize their data architectures.

    • Databricks: Enhanced integrations with Unity Catalog and Serverless support, improving data usability in both Databricks and data lake environments.

    • Microsoft: Expanded collaboration to deliver scalable, secure data solutions through Fivetran’s Managed Data Lake Service to address the growing need for infrastructure that supports AI/ML workloads. This partnership empowers organizations to efficiently centralize, manage and scale data in OneLake as part of Microsoft Fabric.

    • AWS: Achieved 40% year-over-year growth in the AWS Marketplace, driven by its Managed Data Lake Service. This service simplifies infrastructure management, enabling businesses to turn raw data into actionable insights that power AI and analytics initiatives.
