John Shegerian, Chairman and CEO of ERI, the nation’s largest fully integrated IT and electronics asset disposition (ITAD) provider and hardware destruction company, was honored at City & State’s Corporate Social Responsibility Awards.
At the event, a selection of previous recipients of the “Responsible 100” award were re-honored with a secondary award to acknowledge their continued work.
“We’re here to recognize these amazing New Yorkers who are making a meaningful impact in the lives of others, empowering communities, building positive brands, engaging in philanthropy and creating value within society,” City & State Advisory Board Chair Sheryl Huggins-Salomon said. “CSR alums, you are truly inspiring.”
The event shone a light on socially responsible leaders in New York. Every year, City & State spotlights 100 exceptional individuals who work to tackle New York’s biggest challenges. These leaders from various sectors, such as business, government, nonprofits, and advocacy, combine idealism with practical dedication to bring about real and lasting change.
Shegerian was recognized for his groundbreaking work leading ERI, the largest electronic waste recycling company in the United States. Thanks to its innovative technologies such as A.I. and robotics, ERI has the capacity to responsibly process more than a billion pounds of electronic waste annually at its eight certified locations, serving every zip code in the United States.
“What a great honor to be named alongside this list of visionary and impactful New York innovators and experts,” said Shegerian. “We’re proud of what we do at ERI – protecting people, the planet and privacy…and keeping millions of pounds of toxic e-waste out of landfills in New York and across the country. Being recognized at this event is a powerful reminder that we’re doing the right thing and it helps inspire us to continue with our commitment to do more. I am truly humbled.”
