COPE Health Solutions is poised to launch its first pediatric COPE Health Scholars Program through a partnership with Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), a pediatric healthcare system in Southern California.
The COPE Health Scholars programs are experiential educational and career ladder programs that support students and community members to grow their career in healthcare with educational and training opportunities. The program offers clinical and administrative rotations with nurses, doctors, other care team members and administrators by providing direct patient care and preparing the Scholar’s with a career growth pathway.
When the program launches at CHOC in January 2024, it will become the first pediatric health site in the nation to offer this innovative program.
The COPE Health Scholar program is designed for high school graduates, college students and career changers, combining online coursework with a minimum of 280 hours of in-person experience at CHOC and access to best-fit training and job opportunities.
“COPE Health Solutions has a long history of delivering high value experiential education directly linked to targeted career training and job placement, improving access to care, quality and diversity of the health care workforce through the Health Scholar program. Many of our current Scholars and alumni are interested in pursuing careers in pediatrics and this program allows individuals to get a fully immersive experience filled with training and jobs opportunities to work across a broad spectrum of healthcare,” said Margaret Peterson, RN, MSN, PhD, Principal and Health Workforce Solutions Leader with COPE Health Solutions.
CHOC and COPE Health Solutions will welcome their inaugural cohort of Health Scholars in early 2024.
