AVAIO Digital, a developer and operator of sustainable hyperscale data centers in North America and Europe, is pleased to announce a significant milestone in the development of its Perseus Data Center Project at the Pittsburg Technology Park. The Pittsburg City Council has unanimously approved and adopted the Pittsburg Technology Park Specific Plan for the 76-acre campus.

The initial development on this campus will be the 92 MW Perseus facility, a state-of-the-art data center that will start construction in 2025 and see energization in 2027. The Perseus facility exemplifies AVAIO Digital’s focus on sustainability. It is situated in a location where over 90% of the grid power is from zero carbon sources, has secured commitments for recycled water that will cover 100% of its cooling and non-potable water needs, incorporates on-site solar and has been designed to allow the use of biofuels for its back-up generators.

AVAIO Digital’s partnership with Pittsburg Power Company (PPC) ensures that the Perseus Data Center and the larger Pittsburg Technology Park will have power rates competitive with those in regional technology hubs like Santa Clara. The Perseus Data Center and the Pittsburg Technology Park are strongly supported by the City of Pittsburg which has not only approved the Specific Plan but has also offered competitive economic incentives. Development of the Perseus Data Center is expected to represent an investment in the community by AVAIO Digital of over $800 million and promises significant economic benefits for the City and the greater East Bay.

“We thank the City of Pittsburg for their confidence in, and shared vision for, the development of the Pittsburg Technology Park. We are excited to begin construction on Perseus, which represents the cutting edge in sustainable hyperscale data centers,” commented Mark McComiskey of ADP.

“The City of Pittsburg and PPC have a long history of supporting innovative industrial uses, and we see these developments as the core of our workforce and economic development initiatives. The City and PPC are excited about the opportunity to continue to work with ADP to bring this data center online,” said City of Pittsburg Mayor Juan Antonio Banales.

The Pittsburg Technology Park will offer a strategic solution to the growing regional demand for data centers, particularly as development in Santa Clara faces both power and land constraints. Located approximately 45 miles from San Francisco and 60 miles from Santa Clara, the campus is designed to provide both a cost-competitive and sustainable alternative.
