In their new roles, Chief Customer Officer, Chris Kondrat, and Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer, Michael Palantoni will guide critical functions as athenahealth continues its work of curing complexity to simplify the practice of care for ambulatory healthcare practices.

“Chris Kondrat and Michael Palantoni have been essential partners in driving athenahealth’s vision to create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all,” said athenahealth chairman and chief executive officer Bob Segert. “They are the right leaders to accelerate our growth, deliver leading outcomes for our customers, and drive value across the athenahealth network.”

In his role as Chief Customer Officer, Chris Kondrat will ensure athenahealth customers have the support and strategic resources to maximize return on investment, with a sustained focus on delivering meaningful clinical and financial outcomes.

“Throughout his tenure at athenahealth, Chris has demonstrated a passion for and commitment to customer success, consistently delivering on expectations and ensuring our customers achieve the value they deserve and expect. As our new Chief Customer Officer, Chris will ensure the innovation we deliver is meeting the needs of the organizations that rely on us, and that our customer support and customer success teams help practices optimize the value they get from our solutions,” continued Segert.

Since 2020, Chris has served as athenahealth’s Vice President of Commercial Strategy and Operations, playing a central role in building and executing athenahealth’s go-to-market processes and approach. Prior to his nine-year tenure at athenahealth, Chris was the Managing Director of Healthcare Advisory at KPMG, directing strategies for technology innovation, clinical transformation, and performance improvement across the healthcare industry. Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College and a Master of Arts in Psychology from Boston College.

“I joined athenahealth to ensure our growth strategy and operations aligned to the unique value our platform can deliver to all customers, regardless of size,” said Kondrat. “As I move into this new role, my focus will be on delivering a best-in-class support experience and equipping our customer success teams to partner with customers as they work to achieve their organization’s goals. My focus will continue to be on how customers can utilize athenahealth to advance their strategic initiatives, improve the clinician experience, and keep practices on the cutting edge of innovation.”

In his role as Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer, Michael Palantoni will focus on athenahealth’s impact across the healthcare ecosystem, growing partner relationships, payer relationships, and platform expansion opportunities while leveraging artificial intelligence to drive network connections and surface insights for athenahealth customers.

“As our Chief Strategy and Corporate Development Officer, Michael pairs deep knowledge of our platform capabilities with an expert perspective on the future of the healthcare market. His leadership will drive growth and partnership strategies to meet the evolving needs of organizations navigating the transition to value-based care, integrating artificial intelligence, and expanding care teams as they grow,” said Segert.

Michael joined athenahealth in 2012 and has held various roles leading product, strategy, and business development initiatives, most recently serving as Vice President of Platform and Data Services. Michael joined athenahealth from Deloitte Consulting, where he advised public and commercial clients on healthcare and health IT strategies. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.

“Over more than a decade at athenahealth, I’ve had the opportunity to drive innovation and expand our platform’s impact across the healthcare ecosystem,” said Palantoni. “In this next phase, we are accelerating our growth and forging deeper, integrated partnerships that bring value to our customers directly in the clinical workflow.
