Astera Labs, the global leader in semiconductor-based connectivity solutions for cloud and AI infrastructure, announced new leadership appointments to drive corporate growth, strategic development, and product innovation. New senior leaders include Elli Castro-Bordano as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Chris Petersen as Fellow, Technology and Ecosystems, and Kelvin Khoo as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development.

“Astera Labs is scaling rapidly, and I am delighted to welcome Elli, Chris, and Kelvin to our team during this pivotal time as we seek to expand our leadership in purpose-built connectivity solutions for cloud and AI infrastructure,” said Sanjay Gajendra, COO and Co-Founder of Astera Labs. “Taken together, these new appointments today and those to follow in the near future will help us seize the growth opportunities ahead and chart a course for even more success.”

Elli Castro-Bordano joins as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel to oversee the company’s legal operations with a focus on commercial transactions and compliance. She spent over a decade in various in-house counsel leadership roles at a variety of semiconductor companies, including Marvell, Inphi (acquired by Marvell), and Broadcom. Prior to her tenure in the semiconductor industry, Castro-Bordano held a range of legal and contract management roles in the electric vehicle charging and defense industries.

“Astera Labs stands out as a dynamic industry leader that continues to surpass expectations through a culture hyper-focused on customers and backed by its commitment to integrity, innovation, and execution,” said Castro-Bordano. “I’m proud to join Astera Labs during this critical growth phase as the company executes on its vision as a trusted partner for hyperscalers and server OEMs.”

Chris Petersen joins as Fellow, Technology and Ecosystems to drive the company’s technology and product roadmap, and its continued close collaboration with top hyperscaler customers and ecosystem partners. His background includes over 20 years as a data center and server design architect with broad experience in developing and integrating CPUs, memory, AI and video accelerators, networking, and storage. Petersen spearheaded hardware technology and roadmaps as a Hardware Systems Technologist at Meta for over a decade, and he represented the company as a board member within the CXL Consortium, JEDEC, and NVM Express, Inc.

“Astera Labs has taken a leadership role in the industry with its PCIe, CXL, and Ethernet solutions that deliver unprecedented scale for cloud and AI infrastructure,” said Petersen. “I’m thrilled to join this journey at Astera Labs, and to contribute my deep experience with critical interconnect protocols and server architecture to help advance the next wave of solutions and industry standard form factors.”

Kelvin Khoo joins as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development to help drive corporate growth, strategic business development, and overall technology diversification strategy. He brings over 25 years of industry experience and has an exceptional execution track record having driven more than 30 mergers, acquisitions, and corporate investment transactions. Khoo’s experience includes growing Broadcom and NetLogic Microsystems and scaling several technology startups with successful liquidity events.

“The pace and scope of Astera Labs’ ascension within the semiconductor industry is impressive and I’m excited to join the company during this period of rapid expansion,” said Khoo. “I look forward to collaborating with this stellar team to accelerate its growth in the ecosystem and to advance its bold mission as the leading connectivity technology enabler for the AI era of computing.”
