Citrix Adds Android Smartwatch Support To GoToMeeting

Citrix has updated its GoToMeeting video conference platform with a number of new integrations and mobile features, including support for Android wearables.

The company says its research has found an average person uses five or more devices for work and wants GoToMeeting to be able to provide a consistent experience and connectivity across all form factors.

On mobile, Citrix has added one touch dialling and a ‘quick join’ feature to help users in areas of poor bandwidth get connected, while Android users can also leave or join a meeting using their smartwatch.

Mac users can also seamlessly switch between their computer and an iPhone or iPad using the Handoff feature introduced in OS X Yosemite and the iOS application has improved language support.

The desktop version offers greater personalisation thanks to a new control panel, personal meeting rooms and custom URLs, while Chrome Web app users can make use of the ‘instant join’ feature to easily access meetings. Google and Outlook can now schedule meetings directly from within a calendar invitation, eliminating the need to use the desktop application.

“Productive meetings don’t just start and stop when you step in the ‘room;’ they require preparation and follow-up,” said Chris Battles, vice president and general manager of Citrix. “With the new GoToMeeting experience, we’re making the preparation, collaboration and post-meeting communication phases of the work day as seamless and intuitive as possible.”

Citrix has made a number of mobile-focussed announcements over the past year, joining forces with Cisco on the Mobile Workspace Solution, and supporting Android for Work.
