“We are thrilled to announce that Newcastle is now live with our ultrafast gigabit broadband – we have been investing heavily in infrastructure so that consumers and businesses in Newcastle can now have access to the fastest and most reliable connectivity on the market today,” said Tim Huxtable, national team manager at Hyperoptic.

“We have been hugely encouraged by the demand for our services thus far – we prioritise installations based on demand so we would encourage anyone who is interested in receiving our services to register on our website.”

Hyperoptic typically targets businesses and apartment blocks with more than 50 residents. However it also working with home developers to connect new builds on order to meet its coverage targets. The first of these partnerships was in Welwyn Garden City and Hyperoptic will also connect new residents at the Battersea Power Station redevelopment from day one

“With gigabit broadband our development is technologically future-proofed – it’s a huge selling point,” added Bernadette Atkinson, property manager at Trinity Estates.

A number of ‘alternative’ providers such as CityFibre and Gigaclear are also building FTTP networks, while BT and Virgin Media are also rolling out the technology.
