ZTE’s Next Phone Could Feature Some Frankly Ridiculous Power

The smartphone power arms race could be about to hot up even more following reports that ZTE could be planning to launch it’s most powerful device so far.

Specifications for the Chinese manufacturer’s upcoming flagship, the ZTE Nubia Z9, were apparently spotted overnight following their approval by the TENAA, China’s certification body.

The approval document says the device supposedly has a stunningly powerful 3.5GHz octa-core processor and 8GB of RAM, putting it far and away above anything currently on the market today, reports GizmoChina.

Too good to be true?

However, seeing as the most powerful Android processor around at the moment is the 2.5GHz Snapdragon 810, this is thought to be a typo.

Alongside this, the Nubia Z9 will also come with a 5.15 inch 1080p display, a 16 megapixel rear camera, an 8 megapixel front-facing one, 32GB of storage and a 3000mAh battery, and run Android 5.0.

It will also feature a curved edge display, seemingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, with a ‘2.5D’ screen. The document also says the Nubia Z9 will weigh 180g, and be around 8.94mm thick.

We’ll find out more next week, as ZTE is set to hold a media event on May 6 which should see the device announced officially.
