Samsung Reveals Super-Sized Galaxy View Tablet

Samsung has revealed its plans to transform the home tablet market with the official revealing of a super-sized tablet, the Galaxy View.

The device comes with an 18.4in FullHD screen, making it easily bigger than most current laptops, which Samsung says makes it perfect for watching movies and playing games around the home.

The Galaxy View comes with a two-way kickstand, meaning it can stand up by itself for easy viewing, but also sports a full-sized handle making it easy to carry around.

“At Samsung, we are committed to creating new possibilities and bringing our consumers the best mobile experience,” said JK Shin, Samsung CEO. “We are very excited to introduce the new Galaxy View, providing an entirely new way of consuming mobile video and entertainment.”

Inside, there is an octa-core 1.6Ghz processor, 2GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of storage (which can be boosted via a microSD card), all powered by Android 5.1. There’s also Bluetooth 4.1 BLE, and Wi-Fi LTE support, meaning you can connect the tablet anywhere you take it.

Measuring 11.9mm thick and weighing in at 2.65kg, the Galaxy View also comes with a slightly disappointing 2.1MP front-facing camera for video chats. Samsung says the life of the 5700mAh battery will last for around eight hours of video playback, although this will depend on location and the content being displayed.

There’s no news on pricing or availability just yet, with Samsung choosing to keep those cards close to their chest for now.
