Motorola Ramps Up The Style With Three New Moto Devices

Motorola has refreshed its smartphone line-up with the launch of three new handsets – two new versions of its flagship Moto X smartphone, as well as a revamped edition of its hit Moto G – at a launch event in London today.
Company President Rick Osterloh described the reveal as “the biggest launch of Motorola products ever” and revolved around the theme of ‘a better mobile relationship’ with your devices.
Power up
First up is the Moto X Style, Motorola’s most premium product to date. The device comes with a 5.7 inch QuadHD display that offers a higher screen-to-body ratio that the likes of Apple’s iPhone 6 and Samsung’s Galaxy S6.
Powered by a Snapdragon 808 processor, 3GB of RAM, either 16, 32 or 64GB of storage and a 3,000mAh battery that features all-new ‘Turbo Power’ charging technology, the device runs Android Lollipop 5.1.1 in what is probably its purest form thanks to Motorola’s long-standing closeness to Google.
It also features front-facing speakers, a 21MP front camera that Motorola guarantees is the best on the market today, and a 5MP front lens for snapping the perfect selfies.
But the company was also keen to stress the luxurious nature of the Moto X Style’s build.
Featuring Motorola’s classic curved back, so that it feels easy to hold in your hand, the device is fully customisable through the company’s Moto Maker online design platform, which now has more options than ever before. Users can now pick from a wide range of finishes or rear panel design, including wood, leather, metal and a new silicon finish that helps improve grip.
Time to Play
Next is the Moto X Play, a more affordable version of the company’s flagship build as it looks to take on the likes of the oft-speculated iPhone 6C.
The device comes with a 5.5 inch HD display, a whopping 3,630 mAh battery that Motorola says will offer 48 hours of use, and is powered by a Snapdragon 615 processor backed up by 2GB of RAM and either 16 or 32GB of storage
The Moto X Play will also feature Motorola’s intuitive Moto Assist software, a new offering which allows the phone to behave differently in certain environments. So for example, users can set up a profile which will block all alerts and notifications if they are at work, and unblock them all when they arrive home, to minimise disruption during the day.

Lastly, Motorola’s most popular device, the Moto G, has been given a refresh. The new Moto G comes with many features you would normally only expect to find in a premium smartphone, but will cost only around a third as much as such devices.
This includes a 2,470 mAh battery that should give all-day battery life, a 13MP camera borrowed from the Google Nexus 6 smartphone, and waterproof capability of up to a metre for 30 minutes.
Under the hood there is a quad-core Snapdragon 615, 2GB of RAM and either 8 or 16GB of storage, and support for 4G/LTE networks, making this an unbelievable bargain.
The Moto G has also been given an aesthetic refresh, and now features an updated design that includes metallic trim around the device. And for the first time, the Moto G will now also be available via Moto Maker, meaning users can customise their device as much as they want using the vast array of online design options.
As for availability, the new Moto G is available from today starting price of £179 via Moto Maker, with the 16GB version also available at £209, and will also be on sale from carriers including Three, O2, Vodafone and BT Business and a number of retailers, including Amazon, from a starting price of £159.
The Moto X Play will be available from the end of August and will cost £299 on Moto Maker, with carrier partners yet to be confirmed. Finally, the Moto X Style will launch in the UK by September this year, and will cost £359.
