CES 2016 – Alcatel Launches First Windows 10-Powered Smartphone

Alcatel OneTouch has revealed its first ever Windows 10 smartphone at CES, further boosting the number of devices running on Microsoft’s latest software.

The Alcatel OneTouch Fierce XL features a quad-core processor and powerful 2500mAh battery for all-day use, which when teamed with the usual range of apps found in Windows 10 Mobile make it ideal for workers on the go.

The Fierce XL is set firmly in the mid-range, featuring a 5.5-inch HD display that packs in 1280×720 pixels. Under the hood is a 1.1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, which can be expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

There’s also support for 4G LTE Cat 4 networks, and an 8MP AF rear camera with x2 digital zoom coupled with a 2MP front-facing camera. As mentioned above, the 2500mAH battery provides up to 14 hours of talk time and 820 hours of standby time.

“By perfectly showcasing more of these connected experiences like seamless workplace productivity and document storage via OneDriveC as well as a powerful personal assistant like Cortana, Fierce XL with Windows 10 Mobile customers are getting more from their smartphone than they ever could before.”

British customers looking to get their hands on the device may be in for a long wait, however, as the FierceXL is initially set to be a US exclusive thanks to Alcatel’s close relationship with American network T-Mobile, which will be the sole supplier.

Earlier this week, Microsoft revealed that Windows 10 is now up and running on 200 million devices around the world, with the adoption rate continuing to accelerate, as more than 40 percent of new Windows 10 devices became active since November 27 2015.
