Say What? Latest Windows 10 Mobile Build Lets Cortana Send Emails

Microsoft has revealed a new build of Windows 10 Mobile that features a range of new features, including boosts for Cortana and Microsoft Edge.

Build 10149 of Windows 10 Mobile is now available to download for members of the Windows Insider preview programme’s Fast release ring.

Among the new updates is the ability for Cortana, Microsoft’s voice-recognition software, to send emails. Users simply need to dictate a message and say who they want it sent to, and Cortana will do the rest. You can even send to multiple people, and make corrections using voice commands.

The company’s new browser, Microsoft Edge, has also received a number of imporvements. Along with official Edge branding being included for the first time, the new version also moves the address bar to the bottom of the screen, following feedback from Windows Insiders. The option to view websites in mobile view or desktop view is also included in this build as well.

Elsewhere, there’s an option to quickly turn your phone’s flash into a torch, an updated Photos app, and the ability to automatically upload your pictures to OneDrive

Microsoft has also introduced a series of UI fixes and improvements to make the whole build look better ahead of its final release next month.

“We’ve been using this build internally for a few days and have really loved it,” Microsoft’s Gabe Aul wrote in his blog post announcing the release. “It is faster, more stable, and more polished overall and has been lots of fun for us to see come together.”

“For me personally, I’ve been thrilled to see a bunch of changes get completed that you’ve been asking for. It reminds me why I’m so excited about the Windows Insider program and being able to hear your input to help us shape the product.”

Users interested in trying out the new build can download it now, and unlike the last few releases, this can be updated from a previous preview, rather than needing to reset your device back to Windows Phone 8.1 first.

Microsoft is set to launch Windows 10 to the public on July 29, however there is still no concrete release date for the mobile edition.
