Starbucks Brings Its Fast Pay & Ordering To The UK

Londoners desperate for their caffeine fix have been given a new way to beat the queues thanks to the launch of a new service from Starbucks.

The coffee giant has today announced that it is launching its Mobile Order & Pay service in the UK for the first time, allowing customers a quick and easy way to skip waiting.

Users can now order their drinks and food directly from the Starbucks app, choose the branch they want to pick it up from, and have their order waiting for them when they arrive.

Quick order

The service is available from today to iPhone users of the Starbucks app based in and around London, with the company planning an Android launch in the near future.

Users can customise their drinks to add extra options such as cream and syrup to hot drinks, with Starbucks saying that the service will save customers between 10-15 minutes on their ordering time.

The UK launch follows a successful pilot in the US, where Mobile Order and Pay is now available at 7,000 stores nationwide, as well as on Android devices.

“We Brits are famous for queuing, but in an age of such sophisticated technology ‘why wait?’” said Ian Cranna, Starbucks’ vice president marketing & category EMEA. “With more people leading busier lifestyles than ever, saving minutes can really help, so we are excited to be bringing Mobile Order and Pay to our London customers- the first to have this feature outside of the US.

“We think the easy-to-use feature will meet our customers’ needs for convenience and customisation at any time of the day.”
