Siri Gate-Crashes White House Press Conference

Siri appears to have acquired a taste for political dissent following an outburst at a White House press conference.

The distinctive female voice of Apple’s voice-enabled assistant was clearly heard as a journalist quizzed White House press secretary Josh Earnest regarding the administration’s failure to gain Republican support for a possible nuclear deal with Iran.

“Sorry, I’m not sure what you want me to change,” Siri was heard to say, diffusing the tension in the room as one attendee said that the remark was “on time”.

Listen up

When activated, Siri listens to the audio around it to try and pick up any questions it thinks it can answer – hence the response in this occurrence.

Siri formed a major part of Apple’s latest launch event earlier this week, and will be installed on the company’s forthcoming iPhone 6S and 6S Plus smartphones, as well as the plus-sized iPad Pro tablet.

Apple actually acquired Siri Inc in 2010, first incorporated Siri in its iPhone handsets in 2011.

Apple is also reported to be working on a new service called iCloud Voicemail, which would allow Siri to pick up calls unanswered by the user and transcribe the message, which would then be sent to the user as a text.

The feature is apparently being tested by Apple employees with a view to a 2016 roll out.
