Mozilla Firefox For iOS Debuts On App Store

Mozilla has made the first ever iOS version of Firefox available on the App Store, giving iPhone and iPad users the opportunity to use the open source browser on the move.

Firefox on iOS boasts many of the same features as other mobile and desktop versions, including tabs, private browsing and the ability to sync history, bookmarks and passwords across multiple devices.

Users can also choose their own search engine through easy access shortcuts and Firefox will even try to predict searches and remember previous results.

“I hope you enjoy the first ever release of Firefox for iOS, and expect to see much more from us soon as we are going full speed ahead on continuously delivering new features,” said Nick Nguyen, vice president of Firefox Product at Mozilla. “I’m proud of the team for getting us to where we are today and excited about where we’ll be in the future.”

An Android version of the browser has been available for some time, but until now iOS users have been left out. Besides the default Safari, there are a number of other third party browsers available for the platform, including Google Chrome.

Mozilla is also developing its own open source web-based mobile operating system called Firefox OS, which is aimed at mid-range devices for developing markets.
