Dropbox For Windows Phone Gets Shared Folders

Dropbox has released the first update of note to its app for Windows Phone, which launched earlier this year.

Version 1.1 of the application adds shared folder support, letting users create or unshare directories and add or remove members from a folder. Shared folders can also be added to the Windows Start screen for easy access, just like ordinary folders.

Dropbox for Windows Phone

Shared folders have been a feature for Dropbox’s iOS and Android apps for some time and the company says their addition to Windows Phone demonstrates its commitment to ensuring people can get work done on the platform no matter what device they are using.

The Windows Phone and Windows tablet apps made their debut in January and can be downloaded to any device running Windows Phone 8, Windows RT or Windows 8.1 from the windows Store.

Other features include automatic photo back-up, favourite files and the ability to access both personal and corporate accounts within the same app.

Dropbox, which has traditionally targeted the consumer market, has turned its attention to the enterprise and will hope that Office 365 integration will strengthen its bid to attract more businesses to the platform.

The company has also opened up an office in London to aid its continued expansion into the UK, where it is claimed that a quarter of all web users have a Dropbox account.
