LG has revealed more details about its dual-screen V10 smartphone ahead of its official unveiling later today.
The first in the company’s new premium V series, the LG V10 comes with a separate screen above the main 5.7in QHD display that will show an always-on set of information such as the time, date and weather.
Measuring in at 159.6 x 79.3 x 8.6mm and weighing 192g, the V10 also comes with two front-facing 5MP cameras to allow for the capture of super-detailed selfies.
It’s set to hit the UK later this year following a release in LG’s home market of South Korea later this month, although we’ll wait for the company’s event later on today for the official confirmation.
As for that secondary display, when the phone is activated, it can be used for app shortcuts, allowing quick access even when using another app. The main display, meanwhile, packs in 2560 x 1440 pixels, meaning it should be bright and detailed enough for even the most discerning of tastes.
Under the hood, the V10 resembles a super-charged version of the company’s recent LG G4 flagship announced back in April. It’s powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, 4GB of RAM (more than the G4), And a removable 3,000mAh battery. There’s also a 16MP rear camera and 64GB of internal storage, accepting expansion up to 2TB via microSD, all crammed into a stainless steel and silicon body.
LG has been fairly quiet in terms of releases recently, with the company’s most recent financial results saw LG report a modest rise in smartphone profits as it battled with what it called an ‘extremely challenging environment’.
The South Korean manufacturer suffered a three percent year-on-year decline in smartphone shipments, as overall second quarter sales hit 3.65 trillion won (£2 billion) – an increase of just one percent.
