Is This The First Look At The HTC One M9?

More details have apparently emerged surrounding HTC’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the One M9.

French technology site Nowhereelse.fr has revealed two photos purporting to be of the device, which is currently codenamed Hima.

Showing a similar build to its predecessor, the One M8, the photos show a device with a metal ‘unibody’ structure and front-facing speakers.

The One M9 will feature a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display and run an updated version of HTC’s Sense UI alongside Google’s Android Lollipop software, according to reports.

This will be powered by Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 810 chip, 3GB of RAM and a 2,840mAh battery, unnamed sources told Bloomberg.

But the real headline feature will be an upgraded 20MP rear camera and HTC UltraPixel front camera which will put the One M9 out ahead of many devices currently on the market.

The company has been heavily investing in its camera technology for some time, and last October released the Desire EYE, a device specifically targeted at ‘selfie’ fans packing a 13MP front-facing camera, which could possibly be included in the new device.

The presence of the Snapdragon 810 means the device should be able to handle shooting HD video, which, coupled with Dolby’s 5.1 audio technology, should make it a presence to be reckoned with in the multimedia sector.

Set to be unveiled around the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in March, the One M9 will also be accompanied by HTC’s first-ever wearable device, a smartwatch developed in partnership with sportswear brand Under Armour. The two will no doubt be able to link together to provide health-focused information and tracking statistics on a user’s activity.

Both devices will be revealed at an HTC event on March 1 in Barcelona, entitled ‘utopia in progress’, invites to which were sent out to media last week.
