HP Gets Flexible With Skylake-Powered Pavilion x360 Laptops

HP has refreshed its Pavillion range of laptops with Intel Skylake processors and its most flexible notebook yet.

The HP Pavilion x360 is a hinged laptop (much like Lenovo’s Yoga products) that allows users to change the form factors depending on work or personal needs.

Available in 11.6 inch 13.3 inch or 15.6 inch screen sizes, the Pavilion x360 is able to transform into four different forms –  Stand mode for watching movies, Tent mode for photo viewing and editing, Laptop mode, and Tablet mode..

HP says that the new models are between 12 and 14 percent lighter than previous Pavilion builds, and at less than 20mm thin will allow users to maximize the space in their home or office.

Inside is a powerful battery that HP says will provide up to nine hours and fifteen minutes of battery life and can be recharged up to 90 percent in 90 minutes when powered off thanks to HP’s Fast Charge technology.

Users will be able to choose between an Intel Celeron, Pentium or even the latest 6th Generation Core ‘Skylake’ i7 processors subject to model, and have the option of including up to 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD storage or 1TB hard drive depending on the model.

As for media, the Pavilion x360 continues HP’s relationship with Bang & Olufsen, which provides its PLAY audio capabilities for richer and more detailed sounds, and there’s also an HP WideVision HD camera for videoconferencing and Skype calls.

There’s also two USB 3.0 ports (and one USB 2.0) alongside an SD card reader and HDMI port for connectivity needs.

Available in five colour schemes, the Pavilion x360 will be available in the UK from August 1, starting at £279 for the 11.6in model, £449 for the 13.3in model, and £399 for the 15.6in model.

“Some customers want thin and light PCs for on the go while other customers want power and performance to create and store,” said Kevin Frost, general manager, consumer personal systems, HP Inc.

“HP’s redesigned Pavilion PCs offer affordability and a variety of options for customers to get the functionality they need in a PC packed with style and personality.”

Also revealed today were new Pavilion desktops and notebooks as HP looks to assert its status as one of the world’s top PC makers.

This includes some new mid-range Pavilion laptops available in either 14 inch or 15.6 inch models, which feature some powerful hardware to allow for maximum media capabilities, as well as two new HP Pavilion all-in-ones in 23.8 inch and 27 inch diagonal displays.
