Google’s New Nexus Devices Are Arriving Next Week
Android M also expected to get more of a showing at San Francisco event on September 29
Google is expected to take the wraps off its next series of mobile devices next week after it sent out invitations for an event in San Francisco next on September 29.
New Nexus smartphones are set to unveiled but the event could also serve as a further showcase for Android Marshmallow, the next iteration of Google’s mobile operating system.
All new?
Google is reportedly working on two new smartphones for the next generation of Nexus – one high-end device made by Huawei, and a smaller version built by LG.
Huawei’s Nexus is rumoured to feature a 5.7-inch QHD 1440 x 2560 display, and be the will be the first device to be powered by Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 820 chipset, with LG’s device featuring a 5.2 inch display.
Both devices will also reportedly feature an all-metal body, and come with Android M, Android Pay, a 3D camera module, and fingerprint recognition capability.
Google first revealed Android M at its I/O conference earlier in the year, saying that it offers ‘hundreds of improvements’ including upgrades to app stability and permissions, a boosted Google Now service, and improvements to battery life and how users surf the web on a mobile device.
Also, one of the major new additions to Android M is a redesigned apps permissions system. This means that users will now be able to approve or deny security permissions, such as camera or location access, on a case by case basis, rather than the current system which asks users to approve all permissions at once when installing an app.
