More than half of UK workers believe that tablets will replace laptops in the workplace within the next decade, a new survey has found.
A study by EE found that almost a third (31 percent) of workers said that laptop usage in their workplace was declining as employees increasingly look for a more flexible working solution.
Overall, 24 percent of the 2,000 workers surveyed have already now transitioned to tablets, the survey found, as 36 percent think the total switch will happen in the next few years.
In order to react to this change in usage habits, EE is launching the UK’s first tablet plan to provide additional flexibility specifically for small business customers.
The carrier says that its 36-month plan can save subscribers approximately 25 percent each month in comparison to a 24-month plan, as well as providing businesses with flexible options to meet their business needs.
“Our research clearly shows that businesses are mobilising their workforces, and that tablets are rapidly becoming the primary device of choice,” said Mike Tomlinson, director of small business at EE.
