CES 2015 – Lamborghini Reveals $6,000 Luxury Smartphone

If you fancy getting your hands on a Lamborghini for just north of £4,000, you could be in luck, thanks to a luxury smartphone being launched at this year’s CES show in Las Vegas.

The phone is sadly nothing to do with the sports car maker, but is the product of Lamborghini Mobile, a company set up by Tonino Lamborghini, the son of famous auto designer Ferruccio. It has now launched its highest-profile mobile device to date with the Tauri 88, a 5in 1080px smartphone featuring a gold-plated stainless steel body and a finish of hand-stitched leather.

Only 1,947 of each colour scheme (three finishes of metal and five colours of leather are available) will ever be made, making this an exclusive luxury item, with a price tag which should mean it appeals to high-end consumers.

Need for speed

It is powered by a 2.3GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, a 5-inch Full HD display, 64GB of storage and a microSD card slot to expand things further.

The 4G-enabled handset comes as an unlocked device which is able to support dual SIM cards for those who travel around a lot.

It comes with a 3,400mAh battery which should easily provide all-day battery life, and a 20MP rear camera featuring dual LED-flash, face recognition and white balance correction and 8MP front camera made by Sony.

The Tauri 88 will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat, and users will also get 13 exclusive ringtones created by supposedly famous producer DJ Ravin.
