Apple To Reveal New iPhones On September 9

Apple has confirmed it will be holding a launch event in a few weeks which should see its latest smartphones shown off to the world.

The company sent out invitations to media for an event at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium San in Francisco on September 9.

As always, details in the invite (pictured below) were slim, accompanied by the phrase “Hey Siri, give us a hint”, but the event is widely expected to be the launch of Apple’s next smartphones, possibly the iPhone 6C, iPhone 6S or 6S Plus.

Coming soon

The event, which fits in with Apple’s standard yearly cycle of releases, is also expected to include more details around the company’s latest mobile operating system, iOS 9, a second version of its Watch OS for wearable devices, and a new announcement around Apple TV.

Rumours surrounding Apple’s next smartphones have been swarming around since the company released its last set of devices, as the world watches to see what it does next.

Many think the new devices, Apple’s first for a year, will be a radical overhaul, claiming (among other things) that the phone will do away with the home button, as well as featuring facial recognition and hand gesture control functions for users to interact with their device.

The new devices will also reportedly come with Apple’s Force Touch feature, which senses how hard users are pressing down on a screen to perform separate functions, such as selecting text or taking multiple photos.

Last month, reports claimed that between 85 million and 90 million units have been ordered as Apple anticipates huge demand for its devices, beating the current order record of between 70 million and 80 million that Apple placed for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

Whatever the case, we’ll find out more on September 9.
