Apple’s Next iPhone May Come Packing The Force

The next iPhone from Apple is set to be the most personal yet, thanks to the potential integration of the company’s touch-sensitive technology, reports have claimed.

Apple’s suppliers have started initial production of new iPhone models with a feature called Force Touch, which senses how hard users are pressing down on a screen, sources told Bloomberg.

The new devices will feature a similar exterior design to Apple’s current flagship iPhone 6 and 6 Plus devices, with production scheduled to ramp up as soon as next month, the sources said.

The timeframe would link in with past Apple release cycles, with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus going on sale last September.

Feel the Force

After nearly two years of research and development, Force Touch finally saw the light of day in March, when it appeared in the latest Macbook Pro. This featured a trackpad that supports custom clicks depending on the amount of pressure that is applied – for example, a light click, followed by a deeper press could summon the definition of a word.

The news is the latest piece of speculation surrounding Apple’s future devices.

So far, reports have suggested that the new releases could either be an updated version of Apple’s flagship phone, the supposed iPhone 6S, or a budget version, the iPhone 6C.

Rumours surrounding the device have suggested a radical overhaul for Apple, claiming (among other things) that the phone will do away with the home button, as well as featuring facial recognition and hand gesture control functions for users to interact with their device.
