12.9-Inch iPad Pro Arrives In UK On Friday

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro will go on sale later this week in the UK as part of Apple’s ongoing push into the business market.

The largest ever iOS device was revealed in September, combining a 5.6 million pixel display and 64-bit A9X chip to provide the graphical and processing capabilities required for running business applications.

Alongside the tablet is the Apple Pencil, a stylus, and the Smart Keyboard which allows the iPad Pro to be used more like a conventional laptop while using office applications.

iPadProThe 32GB Wi-Fi only model is the cheapest at £679, while the dearest is the 128GB Wi-Fi and cellular model, which will set you back £899. Pre-orders start today and the device will be available on shelves on Friday.

“The early response to iPad Pro from app developers and our customers has been incredible, and we’re excited to get iPad Pro into the hands of customers around the world this week,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing. “iPad Pro is the most powerful iPad we’ve ever made, giving users the ability to be even more creative and more productive with the epic 12.9-inch Retina display, powerful 64-bit A9X chip and groundbreaking Apple Pencil and new Smart Keyboard. We can’t wait to see what they do with iPad Pro.”

Apple has been targeting enterprises in a bid to boost tablet and smartphone sales amid fears of saturation in developed markets. It has agreed a wide-ranging business partnership with IBM to develop applications and provide tablets to joint-customers, while it is also working with Box.

Many features in iOS 8 and iOS 9 are specifically tailored for businesses as Apple seeks to secure as much of the lucrative market as possible. Not that Apple has any immediate concern. ‘Record’ iPhone and Mac sales boosted the company’s quarterly revenues to £33.7 billion.
