BT Brings IP Telephony To All With ‘Plug And Play’ Cloud Phone
BT Cloud Phone offered to SMBs as company announces 1,000 new apprenticeships and graduate jobs
BT says its new ‘plug-and-play’ BT Cloud Phone will allow small businesses to take advantage of many of the benefits offered by modern IP telephony systems without the need to invest in on-premise hardware.
As the name suggests, BT Cloud Phone is hosted entirely in the cloud, and can be used wherever there is a BT connection or Wi-Fi hotspot. Calls can be transferred to remote workers, who will be able to access communications through a dedicated application on Android and iOS.
The company claims no technical knowledge is required to install the system with support handled by a dedicated service team.

“As businesses look to technology to help them increase their productivity, enhance flexibility, and control costs, we are seeing IP and cloud-based communications really take off,” said Graham Sutherland, CEO of BT business. “BT Cloud Phone joins our comprehensive IP voice portfolio, and demonstrates our commitment to meeting the full spectrum of communications needs of businesses in the UK.”
BT has also announced it plans to offer 700 apprenticeships and 300 graduate jobs across the company, including its software development, IT, engineering and digital technology units.
The positions will be located in London, Glasgow, Belfast, Cardiff, Newcastle, Manchester and Leeds. A third of the apprenticeships will be within Openreach and a large number of both will focus on future broadband technology like G.Fast.

“These new recruits will have the opportunity to work in fields such as technology research, engineering, IT and TV, helping to create and build the next generation of communications technologies for the UK.”
