10 Of The Best VPN Apps
Get the low-down on the fight back against cyber criminals with our look at the best VPN apps
- VPN Master
For a mere £2.29, you can be the master of the VPN universe, guaranteed* (*not a guarantee). Offering high-speed and encrypted connections, VPN Master may be trying to cash in on its name alone – but, given its strong rating on the App Store, it may be a sales tactic that’s working handsomely.
- Cloud Ark VPN
Looking for the “smartest” VPN around? Cloud Ark may be the answer to your private browsing prayers, friend. This free (well, mostly – we’ll get onto that) VPN app gives you “at least 10 VPN hours a month” (which apparently is enough, say the app’s makers), as well as promises of high security, unlimited data transfers and the fastest VPN servers around. There is an additional subscription service that you can sign up to (they handily save that piece of information until the end of the product description on the App Store), but has that put the people off downloading and enjoying their app? Probably not, no.
- VyprVPN
Try before you buy – that’s the VyprVPN way. It offers 500MB with every free account created, before then offering monthly or yearly subscriptions to its convinced punters. Offering to securely encrypt your internet connection, stream multimedia onto your device regardless of location, and “preserve a free and open internet”, VyprVPN has certainly put together quite a compelling case for downloading.
- FinchVPN
With Finch you can either go free, pro or premiere: it’s a little confusing pricing-wise, so it may be best to try out its free service before you splash any serious cash. What it does offer at that most basic level is an easy-to-use interface and standard internet security features, which could be the one for you if you’re new to this VPN business. If you want to go deeper, than upgrade to the pro version and you’ll get 25GB of surfing data, while Premiere members – should you get that far – get unlimited access.
- IPVanish VPN
And finally, we’re disappearing off the grid – by using IPVanish VPN, that is. Providing “a secure environment for everyday web use”, the app has a network presence in over 60 countries and access to 450 VPN servers worldwide. More? How about military-grade encryption, optimised data transfer speeds and prevention from tracking by search engines or – gasp – cyber criminals? IPVanish VPN talks a big game, and you’ll find out how much they can deliver on just that if you entrust them with your VPN needs.
