The Launch of Automate Britain: An Intellect Campaign

What is Automate Britain about?

The purpose of the Automate Britain campaign is to raise awareness of what today’s automation technology can offer and trigger thought leadership to improve UK businesses’ productivity and economic growth. A series of initiatives will be rolled out during the year in order to form industry’s messages for decision-makers and the media.

Intellect will bring together industry leaders, government and stakeholders in order to discuss and understand:

how businesses can be made more agile and efficient through the adoption of ‘virtualised’ workforces and advanced robotic automation
how new adaptive work methods can support repatriation of UK business service and manufacturing operations
new developments and opportunities in building, home and factory automation – intelligent transport – M2M and internet of things

Confirmed speakers include:

Brian Holliday, Divisional Director, Siemens Industry Automation
Wouter Leibbrandt, Senior Director and Manager, Advanced Applications Lab at NXP
Alastair Bathgate, CEO, Blue Prism
Chris Harrison, Head of Change and Service Improvement, RWE nPower
Issues highlighted at the launch event will include the automation of machines, control systems and ICT to optimise productivity in manufacturing and delivery of services. Additionally, the potential software-driven ‘virtual’ robots and self-powered autonomous systems will be explored to assess how these emerging technologies could offer an innovation edge and boost competitiveness of UK plc.
