The Government’s Open Public Services White Paper, published in July 2011, outlines the desire to utilise the power of digital communication and social media to help drive digital take-up. The White Paper states Government engagement and communication with the public will be increasingly digital by default.

This special symposium provides an invaluable opportunity for local and central government communication and marketing teams, social media officers, ICT professionals, policy officers and key digital communication stakeholders from all sectors to:

• Assess how digital media can play a positive role in council strategy to achieve policy goals, engage people and strengthen communities
• Explore the Government Digital Service’s (GDS) strategy to offer world-class digital products that meet people’s needs
• Discuss the security concerns arising from the use of social media in public services
• Consider the present use of digital social networking tools across local government, social care, the third sector and other areas

I am pleased to advise you that we offer a 20% early registration discount off the standard delegate rates for all bookings received by 2nd May 2012.
