Massive Increase In Data Loss During Recession

“This is because they haven’t understood about backing up their virtual systems,” said Winter.
“The problem now with virtualisation is that usually one hardware platform is now hosting multiple virtual machines, which means that valuable data is being stored in one place, but with less skilled and trained people to maintain it, which is a double whammy,” said Bridge.
“Another thing that never ceases to surprise us, is when a customer calls us because of a data loss, and they look at their backups which are empty,” said Bridge. “Unless they verify data backup is effective, there are lots of stupid mistakes that under pressure staff are making, that can avoided with a fuller staff in better eomoinc times. We estimate that between a third and half (50 percent) of data loss scenarios we encounter are human error, there is always going to be a guy pressing the wrong button.”
