Moto 360 2 ‘Will Arrive Next Week’
Teaser for September 8 event should see next Moto 360 smartwatch launch
Motorola has posted a teaser to an event that should see the launch of its second generation Moto 360 smartwatch.
Lenovo, Motorola’s parent company uploaded an image to its page on the Chinese social media site Weibo showing a circular smartwatch alongside the date and the message ‘It’s Time’.
The post was then backed up by a leaked image purporting to be the Moto 360 2, revealed on Twitter by notorious tipster Evan Blass, or @evleaks, showing off six different versions of the device in a variety of metallic-looking designs (pictured below).
Hello Moto (again)
The image on Lenovo’s Weibo page also shows a metallic-looking build, glinting in the faux light of the computer rendering, with a glass-fronted face. The most striking aspect from the picture is that the physical button, used to interact with the device and its apps, has been moved from the 3 o’clock position to around 2 o’clock, meaning there could be more than one button on that side.
However, @evleaks’ image contradicts this, showing just the one button, with the main difference between its six participants being different watch faces and straps colours – ranging from gold to silver to black.
Rumours surrounding the Moto 360 2 first emerged earlier this year, when Lenovo CEO Yang Yuanqing appeared to leak it on Weibo in two images showing a number of different customisable options for the device.
The original Moto 360, released in March 2014, was incredibly popular amongst reviewers and consumers, offering a powerful and intuitive Android experience with a round-faced device.
