British shoppers will be able to get their first experience of the Apple Watch at London’s famous Selfridges department store thanks to a new partnership between the two companies.
As pictured below, barriers have been erected in the store blocking off an area where, from April 10, customers will be able to try and play with the Apple Watch two weeks before it officially goes on sale, with similar areas also opening at Galeries Lafayette in Paris and Isetan in Tokyo.
Pre-orders for the device can also be placed in-store, with customers encouraged to book a 15-minute time-slot to try out Apple Watch before deciding which model they want to buy.
The Apple Watch Shop will open at 9am on Friday April 10, but will be available to browse between 9:30am and 9pm between Monday to Saturday. On Sundays it will be open between 11:30am and 6:15pm.
The stores will include all three editions of the Apple Watch, the most expensive of which will cost more than £13,000.
First announced last September, the Apple Watch is able to make and receive calls, send notifications, and make payments. Described by Tim Cook as, “the most personal device we’ve ever created”, Apple’s first ever wearable will be available in three ‘collections’ all available in either 38mm or 42mm thick editions.
The Apple Watch Sport, available in silver and space grey, features an aluminium build and will be available for $349 for a 38mm version or $399 for a 42mm edition
The Apple Watch Regular, available in stainless steel finish or space black, will cost between $549 and $1,049 for the 38mm version and $599 and $1,099 for the 42mm depending on the user’s choice of watch band.
Lastly, the Apple Watch Edition, crafted from 18-carat gold and only available in limited numbers and from selected retailers (such as Selfridges), will cost from $10,000.
