HP Moves Haven Big Data Platform To The Cloud
HP migrates Haven platform to the cloud allowing customers to access analytics technology within minutes
Technology giant Hewlett-Packard has migrated its big data analytics platform to the Cloud with the official release of HP Haven OnDemand.
Haven stands for Hadoop, Autonomy, Vertica, Enterprise Security and n (for a large number of applications), and it consolidates many of the firm’s technologies.
Important Milestone?
HP is hailing the release of HP Haven OnDemand as an important milestone in its Big Data strategy that gives organisations cloud-based access to key components of HP’s analytics platform.
Haven OnDemand actually runs on the HP Helion cloud, and enables customers to analyse all forms of data, including business data, machine data, and unstructured, human information. The platform also allows organisations to utilise Big Data when developing complex applications.
“To succeed in today’s marketplace, businesses must be able to leverage all forms of data, at high speed and in context, in order to capitalise on emerging opportunities and manage risk and costs,” said Robert Youngjohns, GM and EVP, HP Software. “With today’s announcement, we are making our unique Big Data platform more accessible and adaptable than ever before, giving customers, partners, and developers an unmatched set of assets that can help them create winning, data-driven businesses.”
HP Vertica OnDemand allows for the delivery of enterprise-class Big Data analytics via the cloud according to HP, and customers can apparently be up and running analytics (using HP Vertica OnDemand) within minutes.
Meanwhile, HP IDOL OnDemand provides Big Data web services for developers, partners and customers. These services allow them to build applications that can analyse data types from social media to text, video and images. To date, over 5,000 developers have signed up as registered users of the service.
Enterprise Portfolio
HP also announced upgrades to its enterprise software portfolio that utilise HP Haven Big Data analytics.
This includes HP’s a new set of IT Operations Management solutions; a new version of HP ArcSight ESM, a security information and event management (SIEM) solution; and a new solution that combines HP hardware and software technologies to allow organisations to intelligently manage data throughout its lifecycle.
HP Vertica OnDemand will be available in Q1 2015, with pricing starting at $999 (£638) per month. HP IDOL OnDemand meanwhile is available now as an early access web service.
