CEO Satya Nadella
Microsoft http://www.techweekeurope.co.uk/mobility/mobile-apps/microsoft-jobs-2-195808may have missed the boat on mobile, despite its best and frequent efforts, and a number of other major technologies. But it has no intention of missing the next wave, according to CEO Satya Nadella.
At an event in New York City which saw the company detail the next major update to Windows – Windows 10 Creators Update – and the iMac rival Surface Studio, Nadella said creativity and empowering technology would be its priority.
“The last 10 years in our industry has seen new [types of innovation] like apps and social media, but [these have] been skewed towards consumption,” he declared. “That technology has a place in our lives, but I feel the next ten years will be technology that enables profound creation.”
“It’s about empowering everyone with a new set of tools and creating a new platform of opportunity to everyone,” he added.
“We are the company that stands for the builders, the creators. Every choice we make is about finding that balance between consumption and creative expression. I am inspired by what I see in the Minecraft generation. They see themselves as not players of a game, but creators of a world they dream up.
“We see it as our mission to bring more personal computing into our lives. We’re building Windows for all of us. With Surface, we’re creating a new category that transforms your desk into a creative studio.”
“We’re bringing together with Windows with Office, Windows with gaming, connected with cloud and AI-powered.”
Windows 10 Creators Update will be available sometime in early 2017, adding new 3D and 4K features to the platform, while the Surface Studio will make its debut later this year.
