VIRTUS Data Centre Gets Superfast Nordic Hook Up

Customers of British data centre provider VIRTUS will now get a helping hand from Nordic carrier TeliaSonera, as the firm expands its backbone into VIRTUS’ LONDON2 data centre and hooks up 200 points of presence across North America and EMEA.

TeliaSonera (TSIC), one of the largest telco service providers in Sweden and Finland, already shifts a third of the Internet across its backbone, providing a global routing table with minimal path changes fo the data to travel between.

Vital

The firm, founded in 2003, also offers Ethernet, international voice and IPX-based services.

In a statement, TeliaSonera’s Euro sales director highlighted London’s strategic importance in providing Internet routability.

He said: London plays a vital role in developing the world’s big ideas. Delivering those ideas to the world over TSIC’s IP network, with the high performance guarantees you’d expect of the world’s second largest IP backbone, is exactly what we do. Adding the innovative LONDON2 facility to our global reach was a natural step in our on-going network expansion.”

VIRTUS said that customers of its Hayes-based LONDON2 will benefit from the strengthened global reach that TeliaSonera will provide.

“LONDON2 is already an award-winning, world class facility with a broad range of connectivity options, but we are always striving to improve on its offering.”
