UK Cloud Adoption Hits a High
The latest research from the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF) reveals that the overall cloud adoption rate in the UK now stands at 88 percent, with 67 percent of users expecting to increase their adoption of cloud services over the coming year.
However, while organisations are clearly taking a cloud-first approach, the industry body predicts that the clear majority of companies will be maintaining hybrid IT estates for some time to come.
There has been a significant increase in cloud adoption amongst small and public sector organisations, which have previously trailed behind overall adoption, with rates now standing at 82 percent for both, up from 54 percent and 62 percent, respectively, a year ago.
Datto launches Global Partner Programme to UK MSPs
Datto has announced the UK launch of its new Global Partner Programme. The programme structure benchmarks partners by monthly recurring revenue in four new tiers: Business, Professional, Enterprise and Blue.
The backup and DR vendor said the programme – which was developed based on feedback from MSP partners – was part of its goal to invest in the UK MSP community with more training, education and resources.
“Because we only sell through managed service providers, we have developed this new programme to be tailored precisely to their needs, making it easier and quicker than ever for MSPs to start providing new data protection services,” said Michael Breeze, marketing director, EMEA at Datto.
Security Vulnerabilities “Rampant” In UK Firms
Security problems are rampant among UK organisations, with 75 percent reporting a breach or infection in the last 12 months.
This figures rises to 85 percent for businesses with 1000 or fewer employees, according to a new study commissioned by cloud-based security specialist, Cyren.
The channel needs to be more proactive in advising their customers on security risks, says Cyren’s VP EMEA sales, Atif Ahmed: “Even among businesses with less than 1000 employees, a majority indicated they still prefer appliance-based security on their premises, even though it’s clear the cloud is where security is logically headed and best done.”
