Pivotal Buys London Cloud Foundry Startup CloudCredo

EMC and VMware’s Pivotal has scooped up London startup CloudCredo, a Cloud Foundry services provider, reportedly full to the brim with experts in the platform, going some way to enhance Pivotal’s offering.

Cloud Foundry is an open source platform for building cloud applications on that will run on both private and public clouds. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“CloudCredo enhances Pivotal’s powerful next-generation portfolio of products and services by bringing extensive knowledge of deploying, running and customising Cloud Foundry for some of the world’s largest and most admired brands,” said Rob Mee, CEO of Pivotal. “With this expertise, we can better help our customers transform their enterprises by embracing and leveraging Pivotal’s Cloud Native platform more quickly.”

CloudCredo will continue to operate in London and service its existing customers. Founded in 2013, CloudCredo has worked with Cloud Foundry from the start.

“Joining Pivotal allows us to operate at a global scale, overnight, and help the world’s largest and most admired brands use software to transform their businesses and make an impact on the world,” said Colin Humphreys, CloudCredo boss.

It was last week when the UK’s Government Digital Service (GDS) chose Cloud Foundry as its preferred platform-as-a-service (PaaS). Cloud Foundry beat off competition from Tsuru and Deis for the Government’s digital services softspot.

“It was a very close contest between Tsuru and Cloud Foundry. After a lot of consideration we chose Cloud Foundry for our beta,” wrote GDS technical architect Anna Shipman.

“The maturity of Cloud Foundry, as well as the size of its community, were the most significant factors in this decision.”
