Nokia Is Opening A UK Data Centre Design Hub

Nokia is expanding its telco cloud data centre offerings ahead of Mobile World Congress this year and is opening a design centre in the UK to help operators prepare for cloud.

The design centre, which would advise operators on how to implement data centre infrastructure for telco cloud operations, will be supported by ‘delivery centres’ across the globe, and run all sorts of trials and tests for telco customers to give them what Nokia deems the most cost effective and accurate data centre infrastructure for their needs.

The centre looks to be located in Fleet, according to this job advert. The job description reads: “The Manager (Design Center) will be measured on the efficiency to develop, deliver and constantly improve the automated delivery processes of the Cloud Data Center services and is responsible for the overall customer satisfaction.”

Nokia told TechWeekEurope the centre will be operational from June this year.

Consultation

Nokia has also announced a service called Nokia Cloud Transformation Consulting, which claims to help operators plan and execute a practical strategy for making the best use of telco cloud opportunities.

A third cloud service, Managed Cloud Operations, is a managed service for hybrid operations across hardware, cloudware and application layer management.

“The company has made a significant investment to ensure that our new Data Centre services provide a strong foundation for the cloud,” said Igor Leprince , executive vice president, Global Services at Nokia.

“Our Cloud Transformation Consulting services help operators take informed steps towards a telco cloud environment. We offer the right telco expertise and are committed to being a trusted partner for operators as they look to adopt the telco cloud to help them create competitive advantages in terms of agility and costs.”
